Talk:ArchWiki Tutorial (English)
From ArchWiki
[edit] headings should not skip levels
from
= top heading =
we should not use
=== 3rd level heading ===
before not using
== 2nd level heading ==.
it makes the structure a little bit strange. i know that the headings are a little bit big, but this should be changed in the CSS of the style we use not by using smaller headings ;-) --Dp 07:51, 30 Jul 2005 (EDT)
[edit] Interwiki links???
What are these ominous interwiki links as shown in the Tutorial for? Linking to an absolutely other wiki? Then it doesn't work. Linking to a page in the Archwiki? Then it is described already :) Hellwoofa 05:06, 27 October 2005 (EDT)
[edit] General comments
I think it would be better if we could present the general structure of wiki pages before we talk about microstructures (headings, formatting, etc).
We should first explain how wiki pages are organized. For example, that we have a general layout like this:
- title
- (optional) Article flags
- overview
- (optional) TOC
- (optional) i18n links
- the wiki page body (that contains the main article).
- tools (i.e, links at the bottom that are used for editing, discussing, etc.)
IMHO, This structure should be common to every wiki page. I find it somehow confusing with all the different ways people structure their articles. If this is meant to be a documentation project, then every effort should be made to ensure consistency of individual wiki pages in order to facilitate easy navigation.
Then we go on to explain how to effectively structure an article in order to better present a topic. I am talking about headings and such. We also talk about the use of emphasis (such as indentation, bold, italic, lists, etc.) in order to clear things up for readers.
Finally, we talk about common practice on ArchWiki, such as how to edit a page, and when to edit a page, etc. (This may also be a new article as well).
