[edit] Job/Hobbies

I am a software developer (ASM, C/C++, Java, Python, Shell ...) at Amadeus.

Free Software is my major 'cerebral' hobby. I am also a great kind of nature (sea, mountains, country) and sailing in particular.

[edit] Me and Arch

After having looking around for the distro of my dream and a great community I think I found with Arch all I was looking for :

  • Ease of use and stability.
  • Nice technologies.
  • Knowledge provider.
  • Open and accessible community.

I do not participate to the French Arch Community for several reasons:

  • The first one is that as usual in France it is divided in 2 communities : archlinuxfr.org and archlinux.fr. Isn't it ridiculous ?
  • I do not like local communities as long as you loose the opportunity to meet foreign people and new culture. Every time I went to a localized community (french or other) I felt like it was totally living outside the "real" world.
  • I believe helping here will help more people than working for a smaller community.
  • Having local communities duplicate the documentation. Having a localized forum is nice. Having a French or whatever language Wiki is a waste of ressources. I really like better a single entry point and wiki for documentation with translated pages, like it is the case here.

Like many people I do not have enought time to participate in all I would like to. Here is a (too small) list of things I am contributing to :

  • Gnome technologies : testing and bug reporting mainly.
  • Arch forums : I try to help as much as I can (and sometimes need help), especially with people having problems with Gnome.
  • Arch bug tracker : It is my new hobby at Arch. I enjoy tracking (hunting) bugs, and close invalid ones.
  • Arch wiki : I help at some translations. Recently I wrote a documentation on how to report bugs.
  • AUR : There is nearly all I need in there. For what I miss see my contributions.
