# Non trovavo nessun'altra distribuzione che condividesse i miei ideali. Alcune andavano molto vicino a ciò che volevo ma trovavo noiosi cavilli e inutili complessità che spaventavano più che aiutare;
# Per divertimento - dare qualcosa all'intera comunità del software libero, dalla quale ho preso così tanto.

Per sua natura, Arch è:

* Leggera e semplice.

* "Ciao a tutti.

* "Ho provato Mandrake, Yoper, FC3/4, Mepis e Ubuntu.

* "I also found Arch my final distro."
* "Hi all. I just registered here so I could report all the problems I'm having, and ask for help. Funny thing is, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS!!! I really can't believe this, but everything is just working!

* Aware there are two sides which contribute to Arch Linux: Developers and Users. Don't expect the two sides to merge, but to have a mutual relationship whereby anyone can pick up what they want to add to their machine; our GOALs are to:

* NOT let configure tools / GUIs control the system, but that they be controlled by the user. There is nothing wrong with GUIs as long as they follow this principle.

* NOT be controlled by or dependent on what tools offer. When developing or selecting a utility tool, it should be written in a hackable/readable programming language (KISS) to enable users to modify it if they so choose.

* The core development of Arch Linux will NOT be providing any "newbie-friendly" GUIs/utilities at any time in the near future.
Principy a filozofie Arch Linuxu
Snahou této stránky je popsat principy a filozofii Arch Linuxu. Neexistuje žádný dokument o způsobu vlastním Arch Linuxu a pravděpodobně ani nikdy nebude. Jednoduše řečeno Arch Linux stojí na "svobodné volbě, jednoduchosti, vzdělávání a uživatelské kontrole " (pozn. originální výraz pro poslední bod byl user-control).

Principy

Free speech, free beer, and all that.

Filozofie
Systém hodnot podle kterých se Arch vyvíjí:

* KISS (z angl. Keep it simple) je základem vývoje Arch Linuxu.

Napište to a zveřejněte. Pokud to bude každý kromě vás bude nenávidět, no a co?

* Stále stejné věci a problémy v (k)ubuntu, Mandrivě, a několika dalších.

Rozhodně nechceme, aby tyto komentáře zněli nějak lichotivě a stavěli Arch Linux do pozice bezchybné distribuce.

Arch.

* Легкая и простая.
* Расчитана не на новичков, а на более опытных пользователей

Arch.

* KISS (Keep It Simple, ... Arch.

Arch

Arch.

Linux

Princípios e Filosofia do Arch Linux

# Não consegui encontrar nenhuma outra distribuição que cumprisse os meus ideais. Algumas aproximavam-se bastante do que eu pretendia mas existiam particularidades irritantes ou inútil complexidade que parecia atrapalhar muito mais do que ajudar;
# Por divertimento - para dar alguma coisa de volta à comunidade do software livre à qual tenho ido buscar tanto.

Por natureza básica o Arch é:

* Leve e simples. Notar que isso não significa que seja para todos...

* NÃO projectado como distribuição para iniciados; foi planeada para utilizadores mais experientes. O objectivo é desenvolver o Arch o mais próximo possível de uma base perfeita tanto quanto humanamente possível. Uma base que não inclua ferramentas vistosas e mecanismos de auto-configuração mas antes de mais ferramentas manuais de configuração e poucas funções que os utilizadores possam posteriormente desenvolver e /ou aprender por si sós.

* Um presente, novamente, "... para dar alguma coisa de volta à comunidade do software livre à qual tenho ido buscar tanto". Quando você recebe um presente de alguém normalmente é esperado que dê algo em troca. Deste modo, são bem-vindas as ideias, ferramentas e sugestões dos utilizadores.

* Consciente de que existem dois lados que contribuem para o Arch Linux: Desenvolvedores e Utilizadores. Não contamos que os dois lados confluam, mas que mantenham um mútuo relacionamento onde cada um pode recolher o que quiser para adicionar à sua máquina; os nossos OBJECTIVOS são:

:* NÃO permitir que as ferramentas de configuração / interfaces gráficas (no original GUIs: Graphical User Interfaces) controlem o sistema, mas que este seja controlado pelo utilizador. Não existe nada de errado com as interfaces gráficas desde que estas mantenham este princípio;

* KISS (Keep it Simple...)

* Mais cedo ou mais tarde a informação terá de ser encontrada na internet - www e usenet - (se as páginas man não forem suficientes). Aprender como e onde encontrar a informação na rede deverá ser a primeira coisa que um novato deverá fazer.

* Onde alguns utilizadores dizem "... esta e aquela distribuição não são como aquela e aqueloutra", a Arch Linux permite ao utilizador efectuar todas as contribuições que quiser desde que tal não colida com a sua concepção e filosofia.

* A Arch Linux é diferente das outras distribuições: na Arch Linux o utilizador não é a única preocupação. Minimizar o desenvolvimento de novas ferramentas e documentação enquanto se maximiza o entendimento do funcionamento interno do Linux e se mantém a vigilância permanente sobre a meta da simplicidade (KISS) e sobre os princípios da filosofia em geral... é o que torna "A Maneira do Arch" realmente diferente.

* O melhor das contribuições é que não é necessária a permissão de ninguém para as fazer (Certo?). Ninguém pode fisicamente impedi-lo de escrever algo que (pessoalmente) ache útil, mesmo que o "poder instituído" não o veja como uma bênção. Escreva-o e coloque-o no fórum das contribuições dos utilizadores (User Contribuitions). Se outras pessoas gostarem, você terá retorno. E se virtualmente toda a gente por aí fora detestar, excepto você, também terá retorno de certeza - mas quem se importa com isso? Demora apenas 20 minutos a escrever e aprendemos alguma coisa pelo caminho. Independentemente do resultado, ficamos sempre a ganhar.

* É o que você lhe faz.

* "Eu experimentei a Mandrake, Yoper, FC3/4, Mepis e Ubuntu. Andava à procura da distribuição perfeita. Estou contente por ter descoberto a Arch."
Arch Filozofia i Reguły

* Prostota i lekkość
* Dystrybucja kierowana jest do bardziej doświadczonych użytkowników.
* Arch jest wypuszczany jako system gotowy do uruchomienia, jednak nie można liczyć na fajerwerki.
* Dzięki przeznaczeniu serwerowemu, autorzy nie starają się wrzucić do niego mnóstwa zbędnych paczek.
* Użytkownik decydujący się na korzystanie z Arch'a jest zobowiązany do własnoręcznego dostosowania systemu do swoich potrzeb.
* W Arch'u nie było, nie ma i nie będzie automatycznych konfiguratorów. Autorzy dopuszczają użytkowanie i załączanie GUI tylko wtedy gdy nie łamie ono w/w zasad.
* Jeśli szukasz w pełni zautomatyzowanego systemu, który ma działać bez twojej pomocy, to radzimy ci zmienić system.
* Nie musisz mieć specjalnego zaproszenia by rozwijać tą dystrybucję. Wystarczy, że usiądziesz i spróbujesz coś zrobić dla dobra społeczności.
* Pierwszą i ostatnią reguła jest: KISS

Filozofia
Wartości, którymi podąża rozwój dystrybucji Arch:

* Zasada KISS (ang. Keep It Simple) jest podstawą rozwoju Archa.
W pewnym momencie będzie on przecież potrzebować funkcjonalności, którą GUI przed nim ukrywa.

Wady i zalety
Zalety
* Zoptymizowany dla architektury i686
* Pacman: aktualizacja systemu jedną komendą
* Pacman: kontrola zależności
* Pacman: nie potrzebuje środowiska graficznego
* ABS: budowanie innych wersji pakietów jest bardzo łatwe
* ABS: zbuduj pakiety na Twoim komputerze jedną komendą
* Aktualne pakiety
* Pełne dostosowanie systemu do własnych potrzeb
* Ludzie stojący za dystrybucją są uprzejmi, zmotywowani i kompetentni.
* W niecałe 20 minut system gotowy do pracy
* Doskonały do nauki Linuksa
* Niezbyt popularny, ponieważ jeszcze nieznany

Wady
* pacman: potrzebuje szybkiego połączenia z Internetem, aby utrzymać aktualność pakietów
* Niezbyt popularny, ponieważ jeszcze nieznany
* Sporadyczne konflikty z powodu użycia najnowszych bibliotek
* Brak opcji ułatwiających życie początkującym
Axelgenushttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=The_Arch_Way&diff=23692The Arch Way2007-05-04T16:00:00Z
Axelgenus:

English
Arch Principles & Philosophy
This page attempts to describe the principles and philosophy of Arch Linux. There once was no written document about the Arch Way; most likely that will never happen again. In short, the Arch Way stands for "freedom of choice, keep it simple, learning, and user-control".

Principles
I, Judd Vinet, started building Arch for two reasons:

# I didn't find any other distributions that met my ideals. Some came very close to what I wanted but there were annoying quirks or needless complexity that seemed to hurt more than help;
# For fun - to give a little something back to the free software community, from which I've taken so much.

By its basic nature, Arch is:

* Lightweight and simple. Note that doesn't mean it's for everyone....

* NOT designed as a newbie distro; it's intended for more experienced users. The aim is to develop Arch into as nearly a perfect base as is humanly possible. A base doesn't include fancy tools and auto configuration mechanisms, but rather contains manual configuration tools and few functions, for the users to further develop and/or learn on their own.

* A free gift, again, "...to give a little something back to the free software community, from which I've taken so much." When you receive a gift from someone, it's usually expected to give something in return. As such, users are welcome to contribute their ideas, tools and suggestions.

* We humble developers will continue to provide Arch as a solid base for everyone and anyone. If you guys want to make it pretty, give 'er a rip. Free speech, free beer, and all that.

Philosophy
The System of values by which Arch develops:

* KISS (Keep It Simple, ...) is the basis of Arch development.

* In Arch, 'simple' doesn't always mean what it does in other distros. It's our philosophy that the learning is more important than getting something easily done.

* Relying on GUIs to build and use your system is just going to hurt a user in the end. At some point in time a user will need to know all that some GUIs hide.

* If you try to hide the complexity of the system, you'll end up with a more complex system. Instead, try to make the system simpler and more logical from the inside.

* Sooner or later, you'll have to find the information on the web and usenet (if man is not enough). Learning how and where to find it on the net should be the first thing a newbie has to learn.

* Where some users say "...such and such distro isn't like so and so distro," Arch allows the user to make all the contributions they want as long as it doesn't go against the ideals of the design or philosophy.

* Arch Linux is different from the others: at Arch, the user isn't the only concern. Minimizing development of new tools and docs while maximizing understanding of Linux' inner workings, while keeping a watchful eye always on the "KISS" aim and philosophy of Arch Linux in general...is what makes the "Arch Way" truly different.

* The great thing about contributions is that you don't need anyone's permission to make them. (See?) No one can physically stop you from writing something that you (personally) find useful, even if the "powers that be" don't see it as a blessing. Write it and put it up in the User Contributions forum. If other people like it, you'll receive feedback. If virtually everyone out there hates it but you, you'll receive feedback, for sure - but who cares? It took you 20 minutes to write, and you learned something along the way. It's a winning situation no matter what.

* It is what you make it.

Comments
What users have said about Arch:

* "After spending a lot of time with other distributions (debian, gentoo, mandrake, redhat, fedora, slackware) and even FreeBSD. I think that I finally found the distribution I was looking for."

* Same thing with (k)ubuntu, Mandriva, and several others. Well, openSUSE is nice and easy (that's the one I would advice for my sister); but Arch is the One which really *rocks*.

* "I have tried several distro's and even took (tired?) RHCE (took it BACK?), but there was always something I disliked about each."

* "My dream distro was always the simplicity of Slackware with real dependency support like Debian's, and guess what - that's Arch."

* "I also found Arch my final distro."

* "After trying out almost all the available distributions, I have to agree that Arch is the best."

* "Hi all. I just registered here so I could report all the problems I'm having, and ask for help. Funny thing is, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS!!! I really can't believe this, but everything is just working! I installed Arch today, had a little trouble with xorg and sound setup, but found all the answers I needed in the documentation and the forums!"

* "I tried Mandrake, Yoper, FC3/4, Mepis and Ubuntu. I was looking for the perfect distro. I am glad that I found Arch."
It's a winning situation no matter what.

# Non trovavo nessun'altra distribuzione che condividesse i miei ideali. Alcune andavano molto vicino a ciò che volevo ma trovavo noiosi cavilli e inutili complessità che spaventavano più che aiutare;
# Per divertimento - dare qualcosa all'intera comunità del software libero, dalla quale ho preso così tanto.

Per sua natura, Arch è:

* Leggera e semplice.

# I didn't find any other distributions that met my ideals. Some came very close to what I wanted but there were annoying quirks or needless complexity that seemed to hurt more than help;
