Mythstream is an unofficial plugin for MythTV which enables internet audio/video streams. This is a short howto on getting mythstream to work on Arch Linux.

=Requirements=
MythTV v. 0.20, Mythstream v. 0.18, runtime versions of wget, perl and the perl modules XML::Simple, XML::DOM, XML::XQL. XML::Simple (perl-xml-simple) and XML::DOM (perl-xml-dom) are available from the perlcpan repository: [[PerlCPAN_Repository]]. PKGBUILDs for XML::XQL (perl-xml-xql), fftw2 compiled with single precision (fftw2single) and mythstream have been submitted to AUR/unsupported. Obviously You will be needing Mythtv from extra too.

=Installation=
Either enable the perlcpan repo in your /etc/pacman.conf or download and install manually. Build and install the packages from AUR, perhaps with Aurbuild.

With perlcpan enabled in /etc/pacman.conf and using aurbuild for PKGBUILDS from AUR:
pacman -S perl-xml-simple perl-xml-dom
aurbuild -b perl-xml-xql fftw2single mythstream

=Editing MythTV's menu files=
From MythTV v. 0.20 and up, support for Mythstream menu entries has been added to MythTV's menu xml files. However, in some cases you might need to add the entries yourself.
A short howto on installing packages while offline. It is Based on byte's post from [http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=30431 this] thread and I will be using KDE as an example.

Download ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/current/os/i686/current.db.tar.gz and ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686/extra.db.tar.gz when you got an internet connection available.
cd ../extra
rm -rf *
pacman -Sp --noconfim kde > pkglist

A short howto on using a cd-rom or iso as a repository to upgrade from. This is handy if you have got no permanent internet connection or are on a dail-up connection. I'll be using sudo rather than logging in as root, if you need help on setting up sudo you might want to read this: [[Sudo]]
=Mounting=
==Mounting a cd-rom==
First mount the cd-rom:
mount /mnt/cdrom

==Mounting an iso==
First create an directory under /mnt, either as root or using sudo
mkdir /mnt/iso
Then mount the image
mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop /path/to/iso /mnt/iso

=Editing /etc/pacman.conf=
For easier editing I recomend nano unless you already got any preferences.
nano -w /etc/pacman.conf
Comment out the entire current section by placing a # at the beginning of each line as below.
#[current]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
#Include = /etc/pacman.d/current
Then add the following at the buttom of the file
# Settings for using a cd-rom as a repository.
[current]
Server = file:///mnt/cdrom/arch/pkg
Save it and exit.

=Upgrading to current=
Upgrade to current from the cd-rom by doing:
pacman -Syu

Reboot and you are running current.
Ndlarsenhttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Installing_packages_from_a_CD&diff=21321Installing packages from a CD2007-02-28T00:08:40Z
Ndlarsen:
