Without this information, GDM will refuse to launch Wayland sessions no matter what you do. There is a lot of information about fiddling with KMS, changing the order in which daemons start and editing the kernel boot line, but without getting rid of this udev rule, GDM will not launch Wayland sessions full stop, so it's pretty important that the wiki has this info IMO.
- 14:39, 6 November 2019 +683 Wayland Add section to troubleshooting that explains that the GDM login manager explicitly disables Wayland if the proprietary nvidia graphics driver is being used, and how to re-enable Wayland if this is the case. Wayland simply will not work without this change, and it was not documented in the wiki before, but just mentioned casually in a thread on the forums.
