Woefully outdated wiki article

Out of Date Article

This article is woefully out of date. It refers to chan_sip, which has been deprecated since Asterisk 17 and will be removed in Asterisk 21. Zaptel was replaced by DAHDI in 2008. While the dialplan application MeetMe is dependent on DAHDI, the ConfBridge dialplan application, introduced in Asterisk 10, has no such dependency.

My intention is to update this article to be more modern and relevant, time permitting. DISCLAIMER: I worked for six years (2007-2013) in Digium's support department, where I supported DAHDI devices and various Asterisk products. I am no longer affiliated with Asterisk, I just started picking it back up recently in need of a home PBX system. Ectospasm (talk) 02:01, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

PJSIP

I've begun overhauling this article, starting with the first major update. What I've added is a (nearly) complete discussion of how to set up res_pjsip instead of chan_sip, and replaced all (most?) references to pjsip to res_pjsip, and bare sip to chan_sip. I also included an example of connecting to a specific ITSP with res_pjsip.

I will keep the chan_sip section as is; for posterity until Asterisk LTS 20 goes out of support completely. I also need to re-read the entire article, there's a section on connecting to the PSTN and I'm not sure how relevant it is. Ectospasm (talk) 03:22, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
