New article

Hi, this is my first wiki article, I hope you like it. Please give me a bit of guidance if there is something that I'm doing wrong. I don't have much experience with Arch, Linux or wikis (I'm 18), but I hope I can make some contributions.

This is what I was looking for! I've put some isos on a usb key, qemu can boot them, but they all fail to boot correctly. The livecd can't find their files. Is this what you were talking about "cd emulation"? I did not get that part...

Multiboot / Multisystem

There seems to exist a package in AUR that does this:

Taking a quick look to it, is seems that it uses grub4dos, grub2 and other tools depending on the ISO that they want to boot.

About Grub2, some isos (like ubuntu) have a boot/grub/loopback.cfg that allows to boot the ISO file from grub2 with something like:

menuentry "TITLE" {
  export iso_path
  loopback loop $iso_path
  set root=(loop)
  configfile /boot/grub/loopback.cfg

Also, you can boot directly some ISOs (take a look to the examples at But for CDs like sysrescd that have a bunch of boot options, it will be too much effort to translate all them into grub menus.
