XDG specification section outdated?

The Cursor themes#XDG specification section refers to default theme but I cannot find any mention of such theme other than icon-theme-spec changelog from Version 0.6, 2 December 2002, which states “Renamed the default theme hicolor.” —Jtojnar (talk) 15:04, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wayland (sway) cursor change

On sway lxappearance didn't change the cursor in all applications for me. In firefox, waybar and gnome-terminal (all gtk3 applications, I believe) the cursor stayed the same. I had to run

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-theme cursor_theme_name

to change the cursor in those applications.

Package name guidelines for cursors

It is not very clear how the cursor theme packages should be named. In the Arch package guidelines there is no info on that. This page suggests "xcursor-*" search in official repos and just "cursor" in aur. I see, the official repos have some themes named as "-cursors", for example, capitaine-cursors. At the same time, I see xcursor-vanilla-dmz in official repos. So how we should name the cursor packs packages? Let's choose a single format, and then write aur guidelines for that. This is probably out of scope for a wiki discussion, but I agree that it could be improved. Some icon themes also include cursor themes (e.g. pop and elementary). I added a link to a "-cursors" search and a mention of icon themes to the page. Chos Anami (talk) 12:01, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
