Thinkpad P14s Gen 2 touch support

The table lists compatibility with everything available except for touchscreen in the wiki. Fedora supports touch on kernel 5.14 for this model but I have been unable to get it functional on arch LTS 5.16 and base kernel 5.16. I have also been unable to locate any information on getting it to work, only seeing it work on my fedora USB. If I figure it out before anyone else I will post solution, but if anyone had any information to link to the entry or add I'd be eternally grateful. The kernel is recognizing its existence in devices files and I even have the driver for it but dmesg says it has a dummy regulator and all the packets it sends are invalid.

Battery conservation mode should list ACPI method

As described in Lenovo_IdeaPad_3_15alc6_(AMD)#Battery_conservation_mode. In turn that page should probably mention the `ideapad_laptop` module. (although really they should be merged)

Adding new row to the "Legion series" table.

Brightness control does not work with AMD Ryzen when using hybrid graphics on Lenovo Legion laptops Legion Slim 7 (2021, 15ACH6) on kernel 6.1.4+.

On models with the Nvidia WMI EC backlight interface, when the laptop is configured in dynamic mux mode in the BIOS the backlight should always be controlled by the Nvidia WMI EC backlight interface.

But, on some Lenovo Legion laptop models (Legion Slim 7 15ACH6, 2021), due to a bug, the backlight might be driven by either one of nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight or amdgpu_bl0 at different times.

As a workaround, starting from 6.1.14+ added a force module parameter which can be used with acpi_backlight=native to restore the old backlight behavior.

If backlight control does not work correctly on kernel 6.1.14+, 6.3.2+ pass acpi_backlight=native and nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight.force=1 as kernel parameters.

Adding T14 (AMD) Gen 3

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (AMD) Gen 3 has its own page, but is not listed in the table. Fakefred (talk) 19:55, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Removal of 1.1 battery control section

I would not recommend removing section 1.1 Thinkpad battery control. As a Lenovo Thinkpad user - I wouldn't have known about tp_smapi nor is it relevant as I have a newer Thinkpad that isn't supported.

The reference to tpacpi-bat is exactly what I needed and finding it on this generic Lenovo page was exactly where I'd hope to find it.

If anything - the section here could be expanded and the reference to tpacpi-bat in tp_smapi could be removed. Jiko (talk) 18:32, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The flag is for merging two related content sections into one instead of having two different places for it.
Nothing prevents keeping the section as a stub linking to the other page instead of removing all the content from here to the target page: would that be OK with you?

Maybe restructuring is in order so that the section first recommends thinkpad_acpi and and then mentions tpacpi-bat as a backup solution? Managor (talk) 08:40, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Honestly I'm OK with having any solution. For now the section has been flagged for years, there's information split or copied into at least two pages (i.e. probably copypasted on multiple individual laptop ones, but that's besides the point), and I don't have the hardware to test what is applicable today and to which models.
If we consider that readers will need recent information first, maybe adjusting the introduction of Laptop/Lenovo#IBM/Lenovo to add a link to Laptop/Lenovo#Lenovo might help avoid confusion?
