MPD with GNOME3 running as user

I managed to get mpd & mpdscribble working with GNOME3. Make sure none of the services are enabled in systemd. Then edit the mpdconf file in your $HOME (mine is ~/.mpd/mpd.conf) and make sure the user option isn't set. Then open a terminal and run the command `gnome-session-propteries` and you'll get a window listing of all the programs GNOME starts with once you've logged in. Just add MPD and mpdscribble and all should be working the next time you login. Jonnybarnes (talk) 21:39, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why is it necessary to enable autospawn=yes in pulse-client.conf(5)?

The pulseaudio package includes /usr/lib/systemd/user/pulseaudio.service and /usr/lib/systemd/user/pulseaudio.socket systemd.unit(5) files. The systemd.socket(5) is enabled by the package by default.

Since socket activation is used by the package by default, enabling autospawn causes a race condition between the systemd.socket(5) and the autospawn option.

I am new to Music Player Daemon and just want some additional information on why enabling autospawn would be necessary or even useful?

autospawn is superseded by socket activation, this option is controlled by the pulseaudio package, therefore I agree with you and I don't think it is good practice nor necessary to modify this parameter. I am removing this recommendation from the page. - Kewl (talk) 13:09, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Broken link to #bit_perfect in mpd documentation

Under Music_Player_Daemon#Scripted configuration - I would fix it but I don't see any reference to bit perfect at all in the mpd documentation.

You can use Template:Dead link to mark broken links that you can't fix. -- Lahwaacz (talk) 08:51, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translating to Russian

Just found out that there's no russian version of MPD page, so decided that I might as well make one myself. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/User:Karakurt/MPD_ru
