Looking through MediaWiki wiki and mailing lists I noticed email is not supported out of the box.
Found this needs to be added to LocalSettings.php (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgSMTP):
$wgSMTP = array( 'host' => 'ssl://smtp.gmail.com', 'IDHost' => 'gmail.com', 'port' => 465, 'username' => 'yourEmailAccount@gmail.com', 'password' => 'yourEmailPassword', 'auth' => true );
But it seems there are some php libs that need installing (https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Topic:R7ag43960rvx0lri&topic_showPostId=sv25uc2o9j6bbkql#flow-post-sv25uc2o9j6bbkql): quote:
`running "pear install mail" and possibly "pear install Net_SMTP"`
I'd love to do this but I run my mediawiki in chroot so there will be a challange of chrooting pear too?
- I found it to work out of the box if you have an email server installed, which is the easiest solution anyway, instead of routing all of your traffic to Google, I’d suggest to leave it as-is. Perhaps also add a link to OpenSMTPD for people who don’t already have one? Link Mauve (talk) 14:38, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
nginx configuration doesn't work
The title sums it up. I've tried setting up MediaWiki by carefully following every steps listed in the wiki, since I have no previous knowledge of nginx.
I may have missed something. But just in case, can someone double check and try the configuration in a clean environment?
It seems to me like it's time to remove the "Warning: mediawiki is currently broken because MediaWiki does not support PHP 7.3." I didn't upgrade my wiki system until just now because of this, so I didn't experience the problems others did. Because of that, I didn't want to just remove it on my own, in case I'm missing something. The Arch bugreport says it is because mediawiki<1.32 is incompatible with php7.3. Mediawiki 1.32.0-1 was released in the community repo on Jan 10, 6 days ago. I just performed a full upgrade on my wiki system, and everything appears to be working OK. The upstream bug is still open, but it's not a bug that the current release isn't compatible with PHP 7.3. Instead, that bug is that 1.31 which is a LTS version isn't compatible with it. Since isn't a LTS version, that isn't Arch's concern.
- Nice to see my warning helping you. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Yes after Mediawiki 1.32 the warning was outdated. Mediawiki 1.32 is however not fully compatible with PHP 7.3 yet. Some unit tests fail and some extensions trigger warnings. I updated the warning accordingly. --Larivact (talk) 05:11, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
