Alternatives

I just added two alternatives, clementine and mopidy. the latter one I did not try miself, but it is packaged in the official repos (community) and it is advertised prominently on the product's homepage. Since there is no mopidy wiki article, I am not sure how much this info helps.. but maybe there is one in the future, then it could entail a section about spotify support.

Anyway, it would be great if someone stumbles upon another alternative, then add it. Thanks! --Hintze (talk) 08:23, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Official Windows client through Wine

Currently running `wine SpotifyClient.exe` generates the following error message:

"Please install Spotify using a normal account Instead of an Administrator account."

The terminal displays the following:

fixme:module:load_library unsupported flag(s) used (flags: 0x00000800)
... (repeated)
fixme:ntdll:NtQueryInformationToken QueryInformationToken( ..., TokenElevationType, ...) semi-stub
fixme:module:load_library unsupported flag(s) used (flags: 0x00000800)

Global media hotkeys

Shouldn't this be put in Xmodmap or similar pages? Since things mentioned here not only working on Spotify.

Save to / Remove from your Liked Songs global hotkey

It was the only global hotkey I really missed, so I wrote a small bash script that programmatically clicks on the right place in Spotify app. I don't want to add it to the wiki since this solution is pretty ugly, it may not work in certain WM / DE (mine is Openbox), so use with care; I can suggest line-by-line debugging before use. Hope this helps someone Yaeuge (talk) 12:40, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Interface Scaling

I noticed that it's possible to scale Spotify interface by pressing ctrl and + to increase it, or ctrl and - to decrease it.

I'm not sure of how much (I would say 10% each time) but the scaling appears to be permanent. It's more intuitive and simple than the steps Spotify#HiDPI Mode section suggests.
