Transcoding or Encoding?
I haven't done a comprehensive search to see if this duplicates information from another article. Given what is here so far I think it could be turned into a fairly generalise starting point for those interested in 'encoding' or 'transcoding' of video. The DVD_Ripping article has used the term transcoding, rather than encoding, perhaps for consistency transcoding would be the more appropriate term. Discuss? --Mustard 10:12, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
- Transcoding is the conversion from one video encoding to another. One would only initially encode raw video data (i.e. the camera) or, rather, all digital video is encoded in some form or another. Most information here probably belongs in DVD Ripping, or should be included in application-specific articles (e.g. MEncoder). I see this as a candidate for deletion. -- pointone 00:57, 29 November 2010 (EST)
