Commentary at the end of a line

Someone recently reverted this edit with the comment "that's not true". I may have been overzealous, but if I add a commentary at the end of my Xresource file, the command on this line is not taken into account. Could someone comment on that ?

I reverted it. A line in .Xresources is only a comment if it starts with an exclamation mark. Putting an exclamation mark elsewhere isn't a comment but probably a syntax error. --Larivact (talk) 15:45, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
So do you think a warning stating this fact would be relevant here ? For exemple:
Warning: You can't put comments at the end of a line. A line in .Xresources is only a comment if it STARTS with an exclamation mark. Putting an exclamation mark elsewhere isn't a comment but probably a syntax error.

I clarified the wording. I think that should suffice. --Larivact (talk) 14:49, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
