A table header used on Laptop subpages.

Style

Each table cell should be filled with the relevant information, avoiding as much as possible having "Untested" cells to provide useful information for future readers of the entry.

Entries should be kept terse, to help keeping the table readable by staying under a few lines per table row.

Model version

Should contain the "model name" without the "Vendor" prefix, for example "ThinkPad X1 Carbon".

This avoids unnecessary repetition of the Vendor name in each table cell.

Date

Should not contain the date of release, but the last date (formatted per RFC:3339, for example "2021-12-21") at which the hardware status has been reported, and should be updated every time the entry for the model is changed.

This helps sorting the table by date, and provides the reader with a hint at the freshness of the information.

Video

Should only contain a Template:Yes or Template:No.

If necessary, may also contain:

  • Template:Y stating "Untested" or "Partial" and linking to the dedicated page, or "Partial*" with an accompanying "*Note" in the "Remarks" column.
  • Template:G stating "Dedicated GPU: Untested" if the system has only been successfully tested with the processor's onboard graphics.
  • Template:G stating "OUTPUT: Untested" if the system has only been successfully tested with the laptop's integrated screen and not the HDMI or DP output.

If necessary, may also contain:

Wireless

Should only contain a Template:Yes, Template:No or Template:- if the laptop has no Wireless connectivity.

Power management

The following functions should be tested to complete this column:

Should only contain a Template:Yes or Template:No.

If necessary, may also contain:

  • Template:Y stating "Untested" or "Partial" and linking to the dedicated page, or "Partial*" with an accompanying "*Note" in the "Remarks" column.
  • Template:G stating "Function: Untested" if a related function (like hibernation) has not been tried.

Other

Should be left blank unless some device not covered in the previous cells requires a specific mention (e.g. it can be filled with a Template:R stating "No: Fingerprint reader" or a Template:Y stating "Untested: Webcam, SD card reader").

Remarks

This can contain any other remark, if there is a way to describe the issue with a single sentence or two. For longer content, prefer creating a dedicated page, or at least a subsection under the table and link to it from here. See Laptop/Apple#Model list or Laptop/Lenovo#E series.
