Template talk:AUR?

IMHO this template is not necessary, we could just implement a default value for the 4th argument in Template:App:

{{{4|not packaged? [https://aur.archlinux.org/ search in AUR]}}}

This will just show the AUR home, but searching for some predefined strings like this template is doing now is pointless since if a user adds this template, he should search for a package himself, and if he finds nothing why should he bias the search of other users in the future with his own keywords? And in any case, even if we don't consider biasing, thinking of some keywords should be such an easy task that giving some predefined ones seems to be overkill, if not an insult to other users' intelligence :P Finally, all the instances of this template that I've tested return 0 results in their searches, so the given keywords are not helping anyway.

How will we find missing links then? Using this template looks like the simplest way.

Looks good for me; my proposal: use
{{{4|{{AUR?{{1}}}}}
as 4th argument in Template:App.
Searching for application title works in 90% of cases.

Discussion continues in Template talk:App#Introducing default argument . -- Kynikos 07:53, 1 February 2012 (EST)
Template:META Missing package points to the AUR website automatically when no 4th argument is given to Template:App, so Template:AUR? is now obsolete: all its instances should be simply removed together with the last | of the Template:App that was hosting it. -- Kynikos (talk) 17:50, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
