Escape template-breaking characters

When the template is used with an equal (=) sign, a help message with a link to Help:Template#Escape template-breaking characters appears, but if using the pipe (|) char, there is no information why this doesn't work. Using | works, could this be added to the template, in the Usage section? Thanks, Bugmenot2 (talk) 18:27, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

That's a problem that affects every template, not only this one, and we can't repeat it on every Template page. I think Help:Template#Escape template-breaking characters is enough (Help:Template is linked from both Help:Editing and Help:Style, plus at the top of every Template page), since this is not a very common problem, and usually people just figure the solution out like you did :) -- Kynikos (talk) 02:40, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Is there a need for IC template?

Mediawiki syntax provides: Sample code and Fixed text. WDYT? Alexz (talk) 21:45, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Those are HTML tags. Templates have a special meaning in mediawiki, e.g. you can use Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Ic, or modify tens of thousands of inclusions in one edit. -- Alad (talk) 00:20, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
