vbox pacstrap

Hi, I reworded the warning you added a little. Whatever the reason for it may be (perhaps all the dependencies of the vbox guest packages), Alad mentions that it is in the wrong place anyway .. to which I agree. Why would you use pacstrap inside a vbox guest machine? Perhaps easier, instead of the warning, to just crosslink to install for the first two packages in VirtualBox#Install_the_Guest_Additions? --Indigo (talk) 14:19, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, although the beginners' guide recommends booting into a basic base and dealing with everything else post-installation (including this sort of thing), it is possible to pretty much get everything installed and running in one go. That way you boot into something that won't require much more than theming your chosen DE/WM. As for the edit, I don't mind what happens to it. Just struck me as something potentially useful for some users. Carlduff (talk) 16:27, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, ok. The thing is the warning will probably confuse more readers in that section because of said sudden pacstrap reference, than help the others who get the idea of why it is in the instructions at that place. The rest of that subsection is not performable anyway without booting the guest first to my understanding. Therefore expanding on it in that section is distracting. I have moved it to troubleshooting: [1] so the info is not lost (CTRL-F pacstrap:). Cheers. --Indigo (talk) 20:04, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
arch-chroot <mountpoint> /bin/bash -c "<command>" allows full configuration without booting into the installed system ;-) Carlduff (talk) 13:12, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, .. add it to the troubleshooting item, if it makes sense for it. I'd say good luck at getting falconindy or another dev to support running rcvboxdrv for the guest with that chrooted bash.. --Indigo (talk) 18:08, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
P.S. It looks as if binary modules are going to be added again as alternative.[2] Perfect to install via pacstrap. --Indigo (talk) 07:36, 25 March 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
