Link style

Please stop replacing all systemd journal links with [[systemd/Journal|systemd journal]]; it already redirects there.

Please undo these edits.

Sorry, I didn't realize the link with the space would redirect to the link with the slash. I'll stop changing these, but is there any point to undoing the ones I've already done? Why replace a direct link with a redirect? --Chowbok (talk) 20:06, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There is no benefit to direct links and it is our convention to use redirects when available: Help:Style#Hypertext metaphor. You are correct to update links like [[systemd#Journal|journal]] after moving systemd#Journal to systemd/Journal but they should be updated to use the redirect. I'll rollback these direct linking edits of yours. --Larivact (talk) 20:13, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, thanks. Sorry about that. --Chowbok (talk) 20:14, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No problem. Just to clarify we only use redirects when referring to a topic, direct links are fine when referring to a page specifically, e.g. Special:Diff/564422 is fine. --Larivact (talk) 20:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
