Splitting edits

Hi, thank you for your contributions. Regarding edits like [1] can I invite you to read ArchWiki:Contributing#Do not make complex edits at once? Cheers – Kynikos (talk) 09:24, 10 October 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Helloes! Will do. Apparently I did a lot of restructuring, that should have gone into several commits (sometimes it doesn't work with the workflow too well though). Will keep that in mind the next time. Thx! Davezerave (talk) 15:54, 10 October 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Complex edits

Ad Special:Diff/542555: If a maintainer reverts your complex edit, fix your complex edit instead of repeating it. Judging from the section above, you have not learned. Let me clarify, moving and rewording should be done in separate edits to produce a clean diff so that the maintenance team can make sense of your edits. While Special:Diff/542549 may be a great edit, we cannot tell because the diff is a mess. Lastly removing stuff should be done in a dedicated edit with an explanation in the edit summary, e.g. your edit removed "There is no longer any need to edit files like /etc/security/limits.conf for realtime access." without stating why.

While I do get that removals should be split out, it seemed to make sense here. I'll try to add/remove these things one by one now.

Link style

Use Template:Grp to link groups and interwiki links to link Wikipedia articles. MediaWiki supports linktrail, eg. [[realtime kernel]]s. --Larivact (talk) 09:41, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
