Color Bash Prompt

why??? --Grufo [ contribs | talk ] 14:06, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For the reasons I outlined on the talk page: the material I moved is (a) unecessarily complex, (b) is essentially a series of variations on a theme; the basics are now explained at the top of the page--with some cleanup still needed, and (c) people can read the BBS thread to see specific examples *once they have grapsed the basics*...
I also think that, for customizing a prompt, the directions should be on $HOME, *not* /etc, with a note at the end of the article that any systemwide changes can be added to these files. jasonwryan (talk) 16:28, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

qutebrowser "new" config example

As these are your dotfiles, would you mind checking if this is (still) correct?

Doubt regarding revert

Can you please explain why you reverted my edit in Dual-Boot with Windows page? (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Dual_boot_with_Windows&diff=744619&oldid=744555). My edit seems correct, as the article "an" mustn't be used before a consonant like M from MBR. -- Josephgbr (talk) 20:04, 2 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sure, for a couple of reasons. First, it was a low value edit that does not contribute to the accuracy or legibility of the article. It was probably well intentioned, but could be interpreted as pedantry. Which leads to the second reason, that sort of grammatical bikeshedding only produces friction, it doesn't make working on the wiki more enjoyable for anyone. Finally, when in doubt about those grammatical edge cases, either let them lie or err on the side of the version that reads best: MBR is an abbreviation, and the initial sound is a vowel (em), therefore it makes more sense to use "an". Understood. I edited directly instead of asking because I was sure it was correct (and it seems I was wrong). When updating pages translation, sometimes I find small mistakes like style or typos, so I use this moment to fix before forgetting about it. I try to avoid this situation again. Regards. -- Josephgbr (talk) 00:49, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No problem. Thanks for working on the wiki! Jasonwryan (talk) 01:24, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
