Edit summaries

Thank you for your contributions to ArchWiki. Please make sure to include an edit summary with every edit, even minor ones, as this is helpful when browsing an article's history. I'd suggest you to go to Special:Preferences and check "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary".

I'll do that. I'm not used to MediaWiki at all, I'm really a beginner when it comes to wiki editing. I find that it's quite messy, and you apparently need to do a lot manually (especially for the talk pages). There isn't even a side-by-side live preview! But I guess MediaWiki is the least-worst of the wiki systems? Thanks for the advice, I'm reading the help pages now for how to use it and format properly!

Eheh more than the least-worst of wiki systems, MediaWiki is simply what we have right here right now, and migrating everything to another engine would be a huge job that hasn't ever even been taken into consideration. Just keep practicing and a lot of what currently feels "messy" will start to make more sense and become familiar ;) -- Kynikos (talk) 12:14, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
