This page contains instructions, tips, pointers, and links for installing and configuring Arch Linux on the ASUS EEE 1201n PC.

Installing Wireless

The default eee 1201n carries a Realtek 8191 Wireless card, despite what lspci reports that the computer has a Realtek 8171 (rev 10). As of Kernel 2.6.33.4-1, this wireless card does not work with the vanilla kernel. The easiest way to install drivers for this wireless card, is to install the drivers from the AUR.

After installing the driver run

# depmod -a

And then reboot! Or if you prefer not to reboot you may run

# modprobe r8192se_pci

If you use module autoload, adding the module to the module list in rc.conf is not necessary.
