==Hardware Information==

==Setup Issues==
Most things on the Acer Aspire One 722 work more or less out of the box, as long as you do what the [[Beginners Guide]] says to do. There are however some special steps required.

===Video===
The {{ic|xf86-video-ati}} driver is recommended, read [[Ati|ATI]] for more information.

===Networking===
Wireless ethernet driver {{ic|brcmsmac}} should automatically load at startup. The modules {{ic|bcma}} and {{ic|acer-wmi}} must be [[Modprobe#Blacklisting|blacklisted]] to prevent conflict. If the Laptop freezes after Wireless activation (in Networkmanager) when network cable is unplugged, select "Network Boot" as first boot device in BIOS. Setup may be further configured by reading [[Wireless Setup]].

 Note: blacklisting should no longer be needed, but left in case certain models still have this issue.

===Audio===
Initially, audio doesn't work, except for beeping. The problem may be corrected by editing {{ic|/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf}} and replacing every instance of {{ic|card 0}} with {{ic|card 1}}.

As of kernel 3.1, the headphone jack is correctly supported.

For kernel versions < 3.1, a bash script may be used to switch between the internal speakers and headphones. First, download [https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33545 hda-verb] from the AUR. The package is now out of date, so use the following PKGBUILD script:

Run the script as root with h or s as an argument to switch to headphones or speakers. Sometimes the command must be run again if a new audio program is started. (Taken with modifications from [https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=125522 this discussion] in the forums.)

===Beep on Power Cord Plug-In/Out===
To lower the loudness of the beep when the power cord to an acceptable level, open alsamixer, select the "HDA ATI SB" sound card using F6 and mute the "Beep" by using arrow chars and then pressing "m"

===Dual Boot===

See [[Windows and Arch Dual Boot]] for general information. Note that this netbook does '''not''' come with recovery CDs. If an attempt to set up dual boot goes awry and you can't boot the machine at all, or can't boot into Windows, you can restore the original Windows configuration by booting into /dev/sda1, the recovery partition, as if it were an ordinary Windows installation. The recovery program says it will wipe the whole disk but will only wipe the partition on which Windows resides. (You can install grub from the Arch installation media onto a thumbdrive and take it from there.)
