The example in ArchWiki:Contributing#Fix_double_redirects_pages has been fixed and it wasn't ideal to start with, as IMHO the proper way to fix it is to link to List_of_Applications#Pastebin_Clients. -- Karol (talk) 18:57, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

:#I agree that the example is not ideal, right because the redirect target could be a specific section in the article: we'd better use a simpler example;

:#The proper way to fix the double redirect (and <u>only</u> the double redirect) is correctly the one shown in the example; pointing it to a specific section cannot be considered a fix for the double redirect itself, but a further improvement of the redirect, so this shouldn't be done in ArchWiki:Contributing#Fix_double_redirects_pages, as it would be confusing for new users.

While we're at it, do we have a rule that says we should link to the main 'List of applications 'page or should I link to e.g. the 'Internet' subpage instead? -- Karol (talk) 18:57, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

:Glad to see it's appreciated :) While we're at it, can somebody check the grammar of "[...] the official wiki staff does try their best [...]", I'm not sure if it sounds ok or it should better be "[...] do try their best [...]", or "[...] does try its best [...]" or what else, I always get confused with collective nouns, see e.g. and . -- Kynikos (talk) 14:29, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

:No, we don't have such a rule. Personally I'd just leave this to personal choice, however if you or somebody else can provide some arguments in favour of one or the other way, maybe a style rule could be added. -- Kynikos (talk) 15:19, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

I think contributions to pacman and other software should be mentioned, maybe with a link to https://www.archlinux.org/pacman/submitting-patches.html and information to contributing to other things like the arch website. I think there is a git repo with the flask code somewhere.

Expansion is welcome, for example the latest ISO may not have the latest pacman version, so alternatives may be presented.

The most important task

Just wanted to say thanks for adding this section [1], more users doing this would certainly simplify patrolling recent changes. -- Alad (talk) 13:52, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Glad to see it's appreciated :) While we're at it, can somebody check the grammar of "[...] the official wiki staff does try their best [...]", I'm not sure if it sounds ok or it should better be "[...] do try their best [...]", or "[...] does try its best [...]" or what else, I always get confused with collective nouns, see e.g. [2] and [3]. -- Kynikos (talk) 14:29, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
"Staff" here is plural as it refers to more than one person, not a single class of people, so the number of "do" needs to agree. I do. He/she/it does, They do. It should be "do". Ataraxy (talk) 06:41, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Ataraxy

Upstream contributions

I think contributions to pacman and other software should be mentioned, maybe with a link to https://www.archlinux.org/pacman/submitting-patches.html and information to contributing to other things like the arch website. I think there is a git repo with the flask code somewhere. Meskarune (talk) 15:16, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

There is Getting_involved#Official_software_projects, this page is about contributing to the ArchWiki itself. -- Lahwaacz (talk) 16:47, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Improving

Here it says that non-Arch users are welcomed to edit, but to get an account one needs to answer a question which can only be answered by people running Arch. Should we say that explicitly, or change the authentication question one that can be answered by, say, anyone with a recent GNU coreutils? Ataraxy (talk) 06:40, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Ataraxy

The authentication question can't really be touched, since it's a compromise that we found to counteract spam attacks.
I've done this and that, is it enough? Expansion is welcome, for example the latest ISO may not have the latest pacman version, so alternatives may be presented.
