Change the scope of Specific requests?

Excluding General requests (Merge, Move...) I think the other requests can be divided in 2 groups: request a new article and request the specific modification of an existing article.

I would split Specific requests in "New article requests" and "Modification requests" (native English speakers can find more appropriate naming): the former will directly host the request, while the latter should be a list of links pointing to the talk page of the discussed article, which in turn will host the request (which is the common place for modification requests already). -- Kynikos 06:43, 8 June 2011 (EDT)

This would restore Questionable edits to its original purpose, since at the moments it also hosts links to modification requests (though not systematically). -- Kynikos 06:48, 8 June 2011 (EDT)

I really like the idea. -- Karol 09:59, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
:) Should I wait some other response before implementing this and see how it works in practice? -- Kynikos 04:50, 21 June 2011 (EDT)
I like this idea, too. So much so, in fact, that I went ahead and implemented it. I also decided to better utilize the ArchWiki (project) namespace. -- pointone 15:31, 24 June 2011 (EDT)
I like the new look. And I like Reports better than the former name too :-) Thanks a lot, pointone. -- Karol 16:18, 24 June 2011 (EDT)
Wonderful job pointone! I'm sorry, I should have helped, being the proponent, but this month is being really busy for me... Anyway you have improved the page much beyond the original intention, brilliant!
The initial idea to maintain a list of links to specific discussion pages would probably be too difficult to maintain and not so useful: see also ArchWiki_talk:Reports#Links_to_requests.3F. -- Kynikos 06:05, 25 June 2011 (EDT)

Deprecate "request" categories?

I'd like to replace "request" categories with the respective templates' "what links here" pages, since they equally fulfil the task without hiding uncategorized articles (which I suppose are still quite a lot):

This can be easily done by removing the category from the article status templates. Opinions?

-- Kynikos 17:47, 20 February 2012 (EST)

I agree with this plan. I think there are still a lot of uncategorized articles and these request categories make them much harder to find. thestinger 14:42, 21 February 2012 (EST)
  1. Convert the links to those categories to links to WhatLinksHere pages, also changing the surrounding sentence when applicable:
    1. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Correction
    2. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Deletion
    3. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Expansion
    4. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Merge
    5. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Move
    6. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Request:Translation
    7. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Stub
    8. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Linkrot
    9. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Linkrot (Español)
    10. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Linkrot (Italiano)
    11. Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Linkrot (简体中文)
  2. Actually remove the category from the templates:
    1. Template:Accuracy
    2. Template:Out of date
    3. Template:Out of date (Türkçe)
    4. Template:Out of date (简体中文)
    5. Template:Deletion
    6. Template:Expansion
    7. Template:Poor writing
    8. Template:Merge
    9. Template:Moveto
    10. Template:Bad translation
    11. Template:Translateme
    12. Template:Translateme (Türkçe)
    13. Template:Stub
    14. Template:Linkrot
    15. Template:Linkrot (Español)
    16. Template:Linkrot (Italiano)
    17. Template:Linkrot (简体中文)
  3. Check that the categories are empty (some pages could have been categorized directly)
  4. Delete the categories:
    1. Category:Request:Correction
    2. Category:Request:Deletion
    3. Category:Request:Expansion
    4. Category:Request:Merge
    5. Category:Request:Move
    6. Category:Request:Translation
    7. Category:Stub
    8. Category:Linkrot
    9. Category:Linkrot (Español)
    10. Category:Linkrot (Italiano)
    11. Category:Linkrot (简体中文)
  5. Update Talk:Table of Contents
