If you have installed Arch to an ext2 filesystem, it is a good idea to enable the journal and turn it into an ext3 filesystem. Journalling provides a range of benefits.

All you need is the command:

tune2fs -j DRIVE

Where DRIVE is /dev/discs/disc0/part1 or /dev/hda1 for example.

Note that once you have done that you then need to edit

/etc/fstab

accordingly and change

ext2

to

ext3

for the partition's filesystem.
