Silencing of disturbingly loud D620 PC-Speaker

To permanently disable the PC speaker, add this to /etc/rc.local on the last line "modprobe -r pcspkr"

Wireless Networking

Broadcom PCI Express

Get the latest ndiswrapper from http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ I used 1.33

I got my driver from ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33008.exe

Check the list if this one does not work for you http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List#B

tar xvzf ndiswrapper-1.33.tar.gz
cd ndiswrapper-1.33/
make
sudo make install
sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
sudo ndiswrapper -l
sudo depmod -a
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
dmesg
sudo ndiswrapper -m

Intel 3945 ABG PCI Express

Very simple to get up and running

pacman -s ipw3945

OR

pacman -s ipw3945-suspend2

If you are using the suspend2 kernel (a good idea for laptops)

It will be interface eth1 on the laptop. If you are using WPA/WPA2, install wpa_supplicant and use the 'wext' (generic Linux wireless extensions) driver.
