Gstreamer is an audio framework for linux. It can act as a go-between between a program and a sound device. See also the xine-engine.

Installing Gstreamer

Open a root terminal and type the following:

pacman -S gstreamer0.10

Adding mp3 input support

pacman -S gstreamer0.10-mad

Adding ogg input support

pacman -S gstreamer0.10-vorbis

Adding ALSA output support

pacman -S gstreamer0.10-alsa

Amarok Gstreamer Plugin

pacman -S amarok-engine-gst
