This article describes specific steps to configure hardware on the notebook model HP Compaq NX6325.

Wireless

The Broadcom BCM4312 driver is available in AUR and works perfectly. I recommend using Wicd to configure wireless networking.

Power management

Cpufreq, acpi and pm-utils work on this notebook. Please refer to the respective wiki articles on how to configure them:

Audio

Sound works fine, just follow the ALSA how-to.

Multimedia keys

To enable the multimedia keys (volume up/down/mute), create a file .Xmodmap in your home directory, add the following lines:

keycode 160 = XF86AudioMute
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume

and restart X.

Video

For 3D graphics, the ATI Catalyst proprietary driver works. Please note that I have not tried the open source driver.

Xorg.conf

You can find my xorg.conf file here: [1] with 3D, synaptics touchpad support, etc.

Fingerprint, card slots, etc.

As it is the case with other Linux distributions, the fingerprint reader and the card reader are currently not supported.
