This article describes specific steps to configure hardware on the notebook model HP Compaq NX6325.

The Compaq nx6325 have the BCM4311 or BCM4312 wireless chipsets. The b43 drivers that come with the latest kernel will get these to work. The b43-firmware package must also be installed from the AUR. Details can be found here

Power management

Cpufreq, acpi and pm-utils work on this notebook. Please refer to the respective wiki articles on how to configure them:

Sound works fine, just follow the ALSA how-to.

Multimedia keys

To enable the multimedia keys (volume up/down/mute), create a file .Xmodmap in your home directory, add the following lines:

keycode 160 = XF86AudioMute
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume

and restart X.

The free xf86-video-driver driver works perfectly the Radeon Xpress 200M that ships with the nx6325. This driver is considered to be superior to the ATI propietry driver.

You may also install the ATI Catalyst proprietary driver if you wish.

Xorg automatically takes care of the xorg.conf configuration

You can find my xorg.conf file here: [1] with 3D, synaptics touchpad support, etc.

Fingerprint, card slots, etc.

As it is the case with other Linux distributions, the fingerprint reader and the card reader are currently not supported.
