Configuration

AMD Turion X2 Ultra Processor

Frequency scaling works after installing cpufrequtils:

# pacman -S cpufrequtils

Add the following to your "/etc/rc.conf":

MODULES=(powernow-k8 cpufreq_ondemand cpufreq_powersave ...)

Your "/etc/conf.d/cpufreq" should look like the following:

# ondemand, performance, powersave, conservative, userspace
governor="ondemand"

# valid suffixes: Hz, kHz (default), MHz, GHz, THz
# min_freq="500MHz"
# max_freq="2.1GHz"

The kernel driver automatically reads the min and max frequencies, so those lines can be commented out. However, if you want to set them, the values shown above are correct.

Framebuffer

None of the values given in the default "/boot/grub/menu.lst" for higher resolution framebuffers worked with the dv5z. In order to find the available modes I had to download hwinfo[1] from AUR.

Mode 0x323: 1024x768 (+4096), 24 bits
Mode 0x324: 1280x1024 (+5120), 24 bits
Mode 0x346: 1400x1050 (+5632), 24 bits
Mode 0x356: 1152x864 (+4608), 24 bits
Mode 0x366: 1280x960 (+5120), 24 bits
