Apple supports iPhone (or iPod touch) in Mac OS X and Windows with iTunes to sync music, videos, programs, etc. But Apple doesn`t support Linux. This article describes how to sync music with iPhone in ArchLinux. In this article iPod touch is reffered to as an iPhone.

Prepare the iPhone

To sync music with non-iTunes system you have to add at least one song from itunes in Windows or Mac OS X to create an iPod database in iPhone.

Configure the system

At first install packages ifuse, gvfs-afc, gvfs-backends.

# pacman -S ifuse gvfs-afc

Then uncomment the line user_allow_other in /etc/fuse.conf

add your user in group fuse and relogin. Now you can mount your iPhone with

# ifuse <mountpoint>

and unmount with

# umount <mountpoint>
