Introduction

Since I had a hard time getting my Laptop working with Arch (especially sound drivers) I decided to write this wiki entry to make it easier for people with the same problem. I may expand it later, but the SPDI/F ports took me like three days, so here we go.

MD stands for "Medion", that brand you can buy PCs at ALDI from.

Soundcard

This Notebook has a Realtek ALC 833 soundcard. To get your SPDI/F ports working, add

  options snd-hda-intel model=medion

to /etc/modprobe.conf

Also my /etc/modprobe.d/sound looks like this (I'm not sure whether this will help you):

   alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
   alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
