Notmuch is a very thin front end on top of xapian.

Much like sup-mail, it focuses upon indexing your email messages.

Also like sup-mail, it does not provide a way to permanently delete unwanted email messages.

You would have to do such a thing manually.

This is not the focus of notmuch.

Notmuch is an order of magnitude faster than sup-mail.

Notmuch is written in C.

My own experience was that sup-mail took 24 hours to index +10,000 messages.

Notmuch took roughly 1 hour.

Notmuch can be terminated during the indexing process, on the next run it will continue where it left off.

It provides python, vim, and emacs bindings.

It is available from AUR, however it currently fails to install properly.
