does this page ever get used?? i'd like to add a paragraph to the Troubleshooting section that acknowledges the ALSA driver's limitations about Audio: Intel Corp. 82801G (ICH7 Family) (rev 02), SigmaTel STAC9228 - see does this make sense?

The answer is yes. By the way, what is the point of your link, and who are you? Thanks. - KitchM 18:05, 3 February 2010 (EST)

Make sure snd_pcsp gets loaded last

I think the module is called pcspkr, right? Aku

No they're different you can read output of "modinfo snd_pcsp" and "modinfo pcspkr" --Ras0ir 09:37, 15 February 2009 (EST)

I don't want to change this howto with my ugly hack. This is about Flashplugin:

if no sound is playing an if I start the flashplugin(youtube...). the sound device is always blocked.

So the trick is just start kdm/gdm/xdm with "-dmS name_of_screen aplay" There is many way to do it.

add "-dmS name_of_screen aplay" to /etc/rc.conf #will start aplay right after starting the daemons gdm: just add start script kdm: sucks

I use KDE4

I found a package alsa-firmware in pacman, which was not mentioned in this page. After installing, my sound worked. On a HP Pavillon dv6.

Merging in stuff from old Allowing Multiple Programs to Play Sound article

The article is obsolete now, but there may be some info there that's still relevant, so I'm going to merge it into the page. It's not all up to date or accurate, so it will need some cleanup. thestinger 16:10, 9 December 2010 (EST)
