Talk:Arch User Repository
Request, tar.gz instructions
Would you please add
tar cfvz PKG.tar.gz PKG/
to http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_User_Guidelines#Submitting_Packages_to_UNSUPPORTED ? In the age of aunpack, who cares about tar commands? :| Make it easier for people who are sane enough to write PKGBUILD files but too sane to remember legacy compression commands (7z anyone?)--Qubodup 18:25, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

Using fakeroot part of article editing
It says "By default export USE_FAKEROOT="y" is included in /etc/makepkg.conf, so unless you have switched it off it is already enabled." Newer Arch systems are using BUILDENV directive and user should set ! right before the fakeroot to disable it or delete ! before fakeroot to enable it.--Jazz1303 13:15, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Removing / changing the part about [community]
IMO this whole part should just be removed now that community have been seperated from aur. But as a minimum it should be cleaned up, since there have been cases where it have confused users rather than help them:
Perhaps something like:
The [community] repo is enabled by default in pacman.conf. If disabled/removed, it can be enabled by uncommenting/adding these two lines: Template:File ...
Any typos would have to be fixed of course :p
Is community still disabled by default in abs.conf btw?

- I don't think the [community] section should be removed; improved, maybe. Where does this confusion arise from? What do you mean by "separated from AUR"? My understanding is that they are very much connected.
