I don't have any problems with X automatically restarting after I kill it. I have autologin configured and then I start X using {{ic|startx}}. Maybe this user is running a graphical display manager or a default target of {{ic|graphical.target}}?<br>

In case anyone else had trouble with these instructions, I had to modify them slightly to get it to work. This might be because my installation is a few years old and predates systemd, but I do not have anything at /usr/bin/agetty. I just replaced it with /sbin/agetty, and I was good to go.

That sounds about right. If an autologin is also triggering gdm, or even just calling startx automatically, that would be an issue. However, that's not exactly important to the article as a whole. Stopping X from booting is only an issue if you've already set up X to automatically boot, which, as stated in the article, is discussed elsewhere.

I have agetty in a different place

In case anyone else had trouble with these instructions, I had to modify them slightly to get it to work. This might be because my installation is a few years old and predates systemd, but I do not have anything at /usr/bin/agetty. I just replaced it with /sbin/agetty, and I was good to go. --Quickthom (talk) 00:19, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

sbin is merget to /usr/bin. See this. -- Fengchao (talk) 02:01, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Instructions here won't work

Basically nothing happens, I'm not logined automatically.
