mpv instead of mplayer

Should we update the wiki for playing bluray with mpv instead of mplayer, since new development is focused on mpv? —This unsigned comment is by Robin007bond (talk) 15:36, 23 March 2015‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

mplayer is still developed [1], the situation is similar to xterm/rxvt-unicode. I think it's easy enough for people adapt instructions through [2]. -- Alad (talk) 14:48, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

major refactoring

I have reorganised and rewritten big chunks of this page, to make it more comprehensive and straightforward. The Playback step now uses the central database available at [3], which is currently the most complete BR decryption database, and has the most chance to succeed using open-source libraries. Now, there is still a lot of repeats between How it works and Playback parts. I am quite happy with Playback, should I trim in the How it works part? --zeb (talk) 15:29, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

AACS Updater

The current libaacs implementation does not use the online database. The wiki page only has instructions for manually downloading the KEYDB.cfg from the page. Any instructions how to actually build AACS updater could be added here and forwared to upstream, as there is no GNU compatible project files (Makefile) to compile this on any Linux, or at least I can not figure out how to compile! libaacs is partly broken

Also, currently libaacs seems to be broken unless a VUK is found - see Wild Penguin (talk) 06:10, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
