- Are the proprietary drivers really better than Gutenprint ? What are the differences ?
- Whoops 07:15, 14 April 2009 (EDT): There now should be 2.80 available as deb & rpm - tried installing both. The Debian package seems to include some tools w. gui / interfaces, maybe "tray apps" (which I didn't get to work on Arch64 - yet) that looked quite useful to control the printer, ink left, printer auto-up/down behaviour (from the "outside" - haven't seen them running, just the files & stuff). Both deb & rpm packages contain an interface driver (or something... cnij:Lpt... bla) that should make more options available ("ink left" etc). Does someone have a Debian32 vbox running to take a look at what features the Debian package really has?
- Whoops 07:15, 14 April 2009 (EDT): Got Pixma 4500 - I think it would maybe make sense to Change the Entry to something like "Canon Pixma" or "Canon Pixma xxxx - yyyy", as the iP's i saw so far were not that different...
