I would prefer this page to provide a general overview of desktop environments (why would I use one, what do they provide, etc.) and simply link to the detailed articles rather than provide incomplete and outdated "installation in a nutshell" sections.

I would prefer this page to provide a general overview of desktop environments (why would I use one, what do they provide, etc.) and simply link to the detailed articles rather than provide incomplete and outdated "installation in a nutshell" sections.
