== Speaker Versus Sound ==
What seems to be missing is the difference between the sound of the beep when starting or stopping, and the ability of the computer speaker to be useful for other purposes.  If I want to turn off a beep, that is not the same as wanting to stop all sounds from the speaker.  This should be made more clear. - [[User:KitchM|KitchM]] 01:51, 1 December 2009 (EST)
== Should We Rewrite? ==
This article appears to need some serious rewriting.  This needs an expert's view of the subject, since there are too many important issues left unaddressed.
There is no explanation of why one may wish to use the directions since there is no introduction.  The opening assumption is that one wants to turn off the speaker, but then there should be a reason for not turning off the speaker as well.  Further, it could be seen as an issue with hardware and renamed as such to something like Computer Speaker Management.
Also, the article did not address the issue raise previously, one that I would think is important to the discerning computer user.
Worse, there is no reasoning given for some of the statements.  One example is "If lsmod | grep snd-pcsp returns something, add !snd-pcsp:".  Just exactly what is the significance of the lsmod results?  Why should the reader make the adjustment suggested?  What exactly is the difference or relationship between pcspkr and snd-pcsp?  These need explanation as well.
Again, an expert on the subject would be able to address these issues.  I cannot do that because I am still struggling with the instructions given which do not work correctly. - [[User:KitchM|KitchM]] 21:23, 12 February 2010 (EST)
