Under [[https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dropbox#Context_menu_entries_in_file_manager_do_not_work #Context_menu_entries_in_file_manager_do_not_work]] there is a reference to editing ~/.profile.  I believe it would work for bash but not for zsh as far as I can work out, but ~/.bash_profile and/or ~/bash_rc would seem to be better.  The file did not exist when I attempted to edit it, meaning I went to poke around.

If ~/.profile is correct, then it should take a note saying 'if the file does not exist, create it'.  If it is not correct, then a list of different shells and their ~/.profile equivalents would help comprehension.

Reference to ~/.profile

Under Dropbox#Context_menu_entries_in_file_manager_do_not_work there is a reference to editing ~/.profile. I believe it would work for Bash but not for zsh as far as I can work out, but ~/.bash_profile and/or ~/bash_rc would seem to be better. The file did not exist when I attempted to edit it, meaning I went to poke around.

Start_X_at_Login has an expansion of the different files that the reference to ~/.profile might mean. It is complicated but demonstrates the information missing from this reference.

If ~/.profile is correct, then it should take a note saying 'if the file does not exist, create it'. If it is not correct, then a list of different shells and their ~/.profile equivalents would help comprehension.

Actually, this is described in Environment variables, I have added a link to that page into Dropbox#Context_menu_entries_in_file_manager_do_not_work. See if it helps. -- Lahwaacz (talk) 19:22, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
