<s>"Make the power button interactive" no longer possible with GDM 3.18</s>
I have been attempting to change my power button's behaviour from suspend to interactive as per the instructions here without success.  Looking into it, it seems with Gnome 3.18 the developers removed the "button-*" configuration options: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753713 Rjackson (talk) 17:47, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
:It would seem the options to change the power button, found in org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power as the power-button-action, currently allows 3 different values: nothing, suspend, and hibernate. Why anything else isn't available is beyond me. I've set it to nothing at the moment, just to avoid accidentally suspending when I mean to power down. While the bug report referenced by Rjackson describes the issue, the resolution makes this confusing, as it indicates a fix was pushed out previously. Perhaps the fix resulted in the current behaviour. CubeTheThird (talk) 06:46, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
::Thanks for looking into this both of you. If the OP could that the suspend/hibernate/nothing options do still work then the section can be updated accordingly. -- Chazza (talk) 15:55, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
:::Time flies, time flies! I looked into all this myself and the situation hasn't changed since October/November 2015. The section has now been updated with the following edits: , , , . If no one chimes in I'll close this on October 1st. -- Chazza (talk) 10:20, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

<s>Change the language</s>
Has anybody been able to get the AccountsService method working as per the second half of this section: GDM#Change the language? According to the <s>Out of date notice</s> (I updated this to a deletion notice) in that section, I tested this in October 2015 and was unable to get it working. I tried it again today and it still didn't work. Today, I tried changing the language from British English (en_GB.UTF-8) to French (fr_FR.UTF-8). As was suggested in the section, any changes you make to the file appear to get removed after rebooting. However, the locale didn't actually get changed to French as the section suggested it would - I was still greeted with English in the login screen. I had first generated the locale using locale-gen so that wasn't the problem. After all this time, nobody has challenged the notice or responded to it in any way so I'm inclined to remove this content now unless anybody wants to step in and tell me what I'm doing wrong? -- Chazza (talk) 11:28, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
:Update - there's also this: Display manager#Set the language. Digging into this, I found that this section originated on the Xfce article and was added in 2011 . It was then merged into the display manager article in 2015 by myself - Alad had marked it for deletion a month earlier . The accuracy notice was also added by myself . Meanwhile, the section in GDM was added in 2013 and apparently it worked with GDM 3.10 though the Author himself admitted that there was no documentation to support this . I'm not really sure what to do about this. Can anybody chime in and explain how this is supposed to work? I'm going to edit the Accuracy notice in the template on the DM page to point here. -- Chazza (talk) 15:04, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
::Update 2 - I'm not the only one. This guy (not me this time!) also followed the instructions and found they didn't work. The guy who added the section to the GDM article made a forum thread here. It's not particularly helpful but I'm adding a link here just for reference. What I'll do is dig up an old copy of Fedora with GNOME 3.10 on it and see if I can change the language there using this method. If it works, I think we can draw the conclusion that something changed between GDM 3.10 and 3.18 to make this non-functional. If it doesn't then I have no idea what conclusions to draw. -- Chazza (talk) 10:20, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
:::Update 3 - I tested the content in Display manager#Set the language and as per my original accuracy notice you can indeed set the locale for the user session (I successfully changed my locale from English to German via this method) but not for the DM itself. So what I've done is remove the accuracy notice and tweak the wording of the section to make it clear that you're not changing the locale for the DM. See . So I'm happy with that content. I'm now just waiting for Fedora 20 to download so I can test out the content in GDM#Change the language on GDM 3.10. I'll post my results here once I'm done. -- Chazza (talk) 10:38, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
::::Update 4 - I just got round to trying this with Fedora 20/GDM 3.10 and it still didn't work. Given that
::::# We have another method for changing the language that definitely does work
::::# I can find no documentation suggesting that the author's method should work
::::# I can find no examples of this method working for anyone but the author but one example (besides myself) suggesting that it doesn't
::::# No one has challenged the accuracy notice that has been up for almost two years
::::then I think that this content should be removed. If there are any objections then please raise them now. Otherwise, I'll remove the content fairly shortly. -- Chazza (talk) 17:16, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
:::::Done with . Closing now. -- Chazza (talk) 11:32, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
