'''<nowiki>#archlinux</nowiki>''' needs authentication to NickServ for joining the channel. This may cause [[HexChat#Issues_joining_channels|race conditions]]. SASL solves this problem by authenticating directly after connection, and is supported by [https://freenode.net/sasl/ most IRC clients] (though [[irssi]] may have issues in Arch). Alternatively, you can set a delay as mentioned in [[HexChat]]. -- [[User:Alad|Alad]] ([[User talk:Alad|talk]]) 15:40, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Offtopic-statistics

Could one of the ops perhaps add the link to the stats page? http://hax0r.se/aotstats.html I accidentally added it to the entry, since I missed the "warning". —This unsigned comment is by Dunz0r (talk) 17:36, 10 September 2011‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Simplify introduction

Following Template talk:Hatnote#Deletion, and also according to Help:Style#Preface or introduction, I'd like to rewrite/simplify the actual introduction and the "Introduction" section like this:

This article is about #archlinux, the main Arch Linux support IRC channel, and #archlinux-offtopic, the main Arch Linux social channel, both available on the Freenode network.

There are also a number of other channels dedicated to Arch Linux maintained by community members: see IRC channels for a listing.

Warning: Do not edit this page unless you are a channel op in #archlinux. You are welcome to use the discussion page.

Usage

To join the channels, you need an irc client. Wikipedia has a list of irc clients. The following commands can be used inside your IRC client to connect to a server and join a channel:

/connect chat.freenode.net
/join #archlinux
