Kernel panic only happens when you send the reboot command archlinux.
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda3 ro -noapic

Here's the wierd part.  I just had to do that once. I did not acutally have to put -noapic in /boot/grub/menu.lst

Kernel Panic After Updating 0.7.2

A strange oddity happened to me while installing 0.7.2 gimmick then running pacman -Syu. On rebooting Archlinux in vmware I got a kernel panic. Just turn the power off in vmware then turn it back on and you'll be able to enter into the OS without the Kernal panic. Kernel panic only happens when you send the reboot command archlinux.
