Talk:Installing Arch Linux on a USB key
Just a note that I'm hesitant to add to the main page, but probably should be there: the media name must match its expected name (something like ARCH_YEARMN, i.e., ARCH_201207 with a current image). Took me a bit to figure out why mine wasn't working, it did the "waiting 30 seconds" thing, couldn't find the volume, and dropped to emergency shell. --Mathwizard1232 (talk) 16:43, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh, and source for the above: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=144246 . Good thing I looked it up, my first post had the wrong format...changed above. --Mathwizard1232 (talk) 01:59, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to add a section for information about using the Syslinux boot loader under configuration and make a note comparing the two. Also I'd like to add a category under tips for using your USB install on multiple machines. I would then add multiple subcategories for things like preferred architecture, suggested video drivers, and other things designed to help people make their USB install compatible with the widest range of hardware. Are there any objections? Evilclown (talk) 13:27, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Please only add USB key specific info in this page. General info should go to Grub,Syslinux or Boot Loader. --Fengchao (talk) 01:33, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- The Syslinux info I plan to add is how to use Syslinux to boot a USB key. Since GRUB Legacy has been deprecated and replaced by GRUB2 in Arch Linux. I felt adding the how to use Syslinux to boot USB keys would be first step in updating this page to reflect that change.
