archuser: The KDE wiki tells nothing of how to install and configure KDE; it should be updated to include how to install it and configure your system.

not startx, but kdm worked for me

Hi,

I could get my kde work by executing "kdm" on the linux prompt. executing "startx" starts some primitive desktop (I am not sure which one that is, probably one of icewm/wmaker/..).

Thats works for me now. I am curious to know if there is a straight method (Do I ahve to create a .xinitrc on my /root directory?)
