MariaDB 10.0.12 and Akonadi

amish has posted some instructions on BBS concerning action that needs to be taken in order to get Akonadi and the new MariaDB (which is a major upgrade) working together. FYI.

Customizing the lockscreen background

Hi, I've made some changes which I'm hope could improve the #Setting the background for lock screen section, but, now it seems the next section #Setting lockscreen wallpaper to arbitrary image is solving exactly the same problem in some different (and possibly better) way. The first section was added with revision 276691, and the second with 277565. I'm not very experienced KDE user, so I'm in doubt now should one/both of them be removed (or just my changes in first section be undoed :)? Thank you. — blackx (talk|contribs) 07:43, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't use KDE, but if KDE#Setting lockscreen wallpaper to arbitrary image works, that's the proper way to do it (in absence of an official KDE option), since KDE#Setting the background for lock screen is reset every time kdebase-workspace is upgraded, it requires root privileges and it's much hackier in general (i.e. it messes up the system more). I would mark KDE#Setting the background for lock screen for deletion, but only if KDE#Setting lockscreen wallpaper to arbitrary image is confirmed to work. -- Kynikos (talk) 11:19, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Arbitrary "Useful applications"

Is there a point in keeping the applications listed there as a seperate section? Granted they could be useful for communication. But so could lots of other applications, including Kontact. Anyone upset if that section is removed? --Shieldfire (talk) 07:33, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

The telepathy information might be useful. Perhaps it should be reorganized into a Telepathy in KDE section? -- Chazza (talk) 07:53, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Package for kdeconnect in Plasma 5

Is it correct that kdeconnect is for kde4 and kdeconnect-git for kde plasma 5? KDE#Integrate Android with the KDE Desktop

I tryed to install kdeconnect while using plasma 5 and it is forking fine through kdeconnect-cli utility. But for some reason there is no kde connect in System Settings. But I have found a path to desktop file at /usr/share/kde4/services/kcm_kdeconnect.desktop for that kde config module and launched it manually and it is working fine.

Maybe you can enable kde4's desktop files to your start menu? Or copy that .desktop file to plasma5's location with PKGBUILD? — Agent0 (talk|contribs) 09:07, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Looking at the dependencies of kdeconnect and Kdeconnect-gitAUR, I think this is correct, yes. kdeconnect directly depends on kdebase-runtime which itself depends on libkactivities4 which in turn depends on kdelibs. I doubt Plasma 5 users will be wanting to install kdelibs along with all its dependencies if they don't have to. -- Chazza (talk) 10:19, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Update: kdeconnect has now been updated to 0.9, making it on-par with the git version. As this discussion is now outdated, I'm going to close it now. -- Chazza (talk) 19:12, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, Chazza. I have updated an article. — Agent0 (talk|contribs) 17:20, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
