This page seems out of date or incomplete.  LXDE requires a window manager, and currently none is automatically pulled in by the lxde package. The pacman command should probably be: 'pacman -Sy openbox lxde gamin' -- but I haven't tested that to see if it works.  Alternatively, a section describing the alternative window managers that can be used with LXDE and how to install them should be added.

(For now, added a note clarifying the fact that some window manager will have to be installed for LXDE to work. Agreed that a more extensive re-write of this page might be better, but I'll leave that for somebody who knows LXDE better than I do.)

I noticed that on this page there is no mention of using systemctl enable lxdm.service but on the Display Manager page that is what is described. I'm new here, so before I edit this page I just wanted to make sure that adding information so the two pages are in sync was okayThanks, Schultzter (talk) 04:04, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

:Yes 'pacman -Sy openbox lxde gamin' works. I've just done that on a fresh install. Don't want to make edits directly since this is my first time ever on LXDE. Claestw 19:21, 24 October 2009 (EDT)

It seems that now HAL is deprecated, but it's still advised in this wiki page. As I'm not an expert, I would like someone to confirm/correct the wikipage.Bikepunk 16:54, 1 August 2011 (EDT)

:To the best of my knowledge, HAL is still required for automatic hardware recognition such as plugging a device into a USB port.  I have it installed on my LXDE system for exactly this reason. --Sportscliche 17:07, 1 August 2011 (EDT)

:: I just uninstalled it and my USB hotpluging still works perfectly. I think udev and dbus are making the job without HAL by now. But I need confirmation.Bikepunk 20:29, 1 August 2011 (EDT)

:::Yes, it looks like you are correctThe only other dependency I could find on my system is tpfand (Thinkpad fan control), but the wiki indicates a "no HAL" version is now available.  I will test it when I have some time.  Perhaps if we can get some more confirmations, the LXDE wiki can be modified.  I'd suggest posting your original question in the Arch forums where it will likely get a wider audience than here. --Sportscliche 04:16, 2 August 2011 (EDT)

I updated the page, but I'm still not sure is this part is still needed, it seems quite HAL related :

I noticed that on this page there is no mention of using systemctl enable lxdm.service but on the Display Manager page that is what is described. lxterminal

Hi, I'm testing lxde desktop with openbox window manager under qemu (1.0).

If I start xorg with xf86-video-vesa driver (2.3.0-7), then lxterminal (0.1.11-1) - and only lxterminal - is badly displayed.

If I start xorg with xf86-video-cirrus (1.3.2-7), then lxterminal is well displayed.

If I start qemu with the parameter "-vga std", display problems with lxterminal and xf86-video-vesa disappear.

May be a bug in lxterminal... Screenshots are available if needed.
